Lusaka, 3rd July,2025 – The Zambia Agriculture Research Institute (ZARI), a department under the Ministry of Agriculture mandated to conduct agricultural research and develop appropriate technologies, is inviting expressions of interest from registered seed companies and seed growers to license and commercialize a portfolio of locally developed, climate-smart crop varieties.
The Institute has successfully developed and released several high-performing varieties across various crop categories, including cereals, legumes, roots and tubers, oil crops, and vegetables. These varieties have undergone rigorous evaluation and adaptation trials in Zambia’s major agro-ecological zones, making them suitable for large-scale adoption and commercialization.
This initiative is part of government’s continued efforts to deliver for its people and to strengthen the national seed sector, improve farmer access to quality seed, and support the broader agenda of food and nutrition security.
