RAENS is a four-year regional initiative (2025–2029) funded by the European Union and coordinated by CCARDESA. The initiative brings together eight implementing partners, led by the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa, and is being implemented across Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. It focuses on promoting agroecology through research, learning, knowledge sharing, and policy engagement. In Zambia, RAENS is led by the Zambia Agriculture Research Institute (ZARI) through the National Plant Genetic Resources Centre (NPGRC).
