Farming Systems and Social Sciences

The overall objective of the FSSS division is to adapt technologies generated to farmer’s socioeconomic and cultural settings. The division strives to involve the small-scale farmers fully in the technology adaption process, thereby contributing to increased adaption of improved farming technologies especially among smallholders. The FSSS comprises the Farming Systems Research Teams (FSRTs), which are based in provinces and have the mandate to carry out farming systems research in respective provinces.
