Structural Organization and Functions at Mochipapa Research Station
Mochipapa Research Station is organized into four (4) Divisions/Sections; namely the Crop Improvement and Agronomy Division (CIAD), Plant Protection and Quarantine Division (PPQD), Soils and Water Management Division (SWMD) and the Farming Systems and Social Sciences Division (FSSSD). In addition to the 4 Divisions, there is an Administrative section that carters across all the Divisions and funded to synchronize research activities in order to provide guidance towards the efficient use of resources for achieving the research objectives.
· Basic Seed Provision
The station has great potential in the area of provision of high quality basic seed of improved crop varieties. These include
Cassava cuttings and sweet potato vines
Groundnut and bean basic seed.
Agroforestry seed and seedlings.
· Seed Certification and Control Institute (SCCI)
The station also hosts the Seed Certification and Control Institute, a sister department which offers the following services:
Seed sellers’ registration and licensing
Premises and field inspections
Seed analysis laboratory
National variety release trials
