A workshop has been organised to update personel from ZARI, NAIS, UNZA and NISIR on the optimisation of digital information technologies. The workshop involves the issues related to generating and publishing electronic documents and how best they can be shared among all stake holders in agriculture. Issues relating to institutional arrangements on information sharing have also been explored.
The workshop is funded by FAO. The facilitators for this workshop are Dr Justin Chisenga from FAO and Dady from FARA.

ZARI has signed an agreement involving 1.5m US$ dollars for three years. This is for research on the improvement of soil health and conservation, legume crops, and resistance blast and aluminium toxicity in upland rice.

With effect from 1st June 2010, Dr. Richard M. Kamona is the new Director for ZARI. This is after the retirement of Dr. Watson Mwale on the 31st of May 2010. Dr. Medson Chisi now becomes the Deputy Director, Research Services while Mr. J. Musanya becomes the Chief Agriculture Research Officer, Crop Improvement and Agronomy (CIA). Dr. J. Chipili becomes Chief Agriculture Research Officer, Region II and Ms H. Kasalu becomes Chief Agriculture Research Officer, Region III. Mrs M.S. Zulu remains Chief Agricultural Research Officer, Plant Protection & Quarantine Division,(PPQ). Dr. M. Sakala becomes Chief Agricultural Research Officer, Soils and Water Management, (SWM). Mr. A. Ngoliya remains Chief Agricultural Research Officer, Farming Systems & Social Sciences, (FSSS).
